Welcome to the History and Memorabilia Section
Sakuwit Lodge 2 Home Page

Sakuwit Lodge 2, Order of the Arrow,  has a long and proud history despite its recent beginnings.  The purpose of this site is to document, in a single forum, the history and memorabilia of the OA lodges, Boy Scout councils and scout camps that have merged over the years to form the current lodge, council and camps.

This web site was created, written and managed for many years by Scott Kuzma. During that time, there were continuous problem locating and keeping a web host. Eventually, our host at that time dropped our site, Scott left and further development stopped. Finally, we have located a host with sufficient disk and sufficient bandwidth to handle our needs for many years. Scott, if you read this, consider becoming involved again with this site.

The link labeled "More History", a recent addition to the site, is a somewhat rambling, narrative history of Central New Jersey Council that complements the Virtual Patch Library. The chapter about the George Washington Council traces its evolution back to when Trenton Troop 1 was organized in 1910. The chapter about the Thomas A. Edison Council traces its evolution back to when New Brunswick Council was formed in 1916.

There is a short section, just for fun, about some out of council camps; Camp Buccou, Camp Dill, Camp Minitink. These camps were located either within, or close to, the current Central New Jersey Council and were probably used by scouts from our council. I invite you to suggest other former camps that merit further research.
